Dealing with Drug Trafficking

The international trade in illegal drugs is causing serious harm to millions of people across the world – people whose health has been ruined by addiction, people in jail because of possessing, dealing or stealing to fund their drug habit, and their families who suffer alongside them.

Sadly, some crew members have been active participants in helping these smuggling operations and, as we shall see later, this can have serious consequences for them and for the ship operators if the illicit cargo is discovered.

In this programme we shall look at the ways in which ships and their crews can guard against these problems and minimise the risks of their ship becoming a victim of the drug gangs.
